No child should have to spend the holidays here in the hospital. They should be home with the people they love. But our work doesn't stop just because it's the holidays. Kids still need chemotherapy, heart surgery and dialysis. That's why we need you. The kids need you. So please, give today.
The Giving Guide: See the good your gift can do.
Here are just a few examples of how your gift right now will help the kids we treat at Nationwide Children's Hospital.
$10 Gift = a pair of pajamas
We keep fun pajamas of all sizes and varieties on-hand for patients to take home after an extended stay on our Cancer Unit.
$25 Gift = diapers for premature babies
Our tiniest patients use more than 31,000 diapers a year. $25 will buy five packs.
$50 Gift = 17 new books
Through our Reach Out & Read Program, children receive age-appropriate books during their well-child visits. A gift of just $50 will buy 17 books for this program and help children prepare to enter school.
$100 Gift = one wagon
Wagons are available at all of the entrances of Nationwide Children's Hospital. They are used, free of charge, by families to transport their children and/or items while visiting the Hospital. The best days are spent watching the wagons being wheeled to the doors with a patient on board, smiling because they are heading home.
INFANT BLOOD PRESSURE CUFFS
We use thousands of small cuffs that are sized just right so that we get accurate blood pressure readings. $100 will help us by enough to last for one week.
$250 Gift = a memorable moment
HELPS ONE FAMILY CELEBRATE THEIR LAST CHEMOTHERAPY TREATMENT
Nationwide Children's Hospital admits than 150 new patients with cancer every year. We are treating more than 1,000 children throughout our region who are in various stages of their fight against this devastating disease. The day every cancer patient and their families look forward is celebrating the last chemotherapy treatment.
Our tiny infants need to be cuddled close and this swaddle keeps them warm in the isolette.
$500 Gift = toys for our celebration chest
Each child who has a procedure done in our Cancer Clinic gets to choose a toy or game when he or she is finished. This gift will help us fund the items inside for one month.
$1000 Gift = scholarships for summer camp
Our patients attend camp in a medically-safe environment so they can do what they do best – be kids! $1,000 will support five scholarships.
CREATES A FANTASTIC TEEN SPACE WITH ENTERTAINMENT
We strive to make patient stays at Nationwide Children's as pleasant as possible. Entertainment systems are very popular, especially among our teenage patients. Fund a Sony Playstation 2 or CD Spacemaker with games.
$5000 Gift = a month of toys for surgery patients
Every child who has surgery at Nationwide Children's picks out a toy that awaits them when they wake up from their procedure. It helps take away a little of the anxiousness. The children get to pick out the item themselves from an "Ocean Room" of toys. Fund the toy supply for one month and bring smiles to more than 1,000 children.
In no way is this list comprehensive of all of the patient care needs at Nationwide Children's Hospital.
